Lindsay Bartlett, Northport, Maine
I have been enjoying Sears Island for about two years now, ever since I moved to the area from northern Maine. A friend brought me here and I instantly fell in love with this quiet and unique spot.

Mostly, I stay on the beach, for sun-soaking beach days and also to collect driftwood. I enjoy walking the shoreline, choosing the most interesting pieces among the plethora of driftwood the island has to offer. I use the pieces I find to make artistic hiking/walking sticks adorned with wood burning and leather grips. There are also funky and unique pieces that I find. From these I create decorative accent pieces that can hold small candles. This past winter I even chipped a piece of driftwood out of the ice.
I have been dabbling in this work with driftwood for years, and it is now being sold at Maine Artisans Collective store in Lincolnville!
To say this island is precious to me is an understatement. I hope to be able to continue to enjoy the beauty of Sears Island for many days to come.
